Vanuatu

Our most recent Mission Adventures trip took place in the Sept/Oct school holidays, with a whopping team of 37 from Invercargill – the deep South of New Zealand. Our staff were us (Wade and Erica), Fleur Hanner and Dave Bosma, with help from the legendary team at YWAM Love Vanuatu. Some of the youth struggled with culture shock, and it was interesting to see how much more removed from the rest of the world that a team from Southland were, compared to a team from, say, Auckland. But several of them also excelled, and we are already getting whispers of kids who are now wanting to do DTS and become a missionary – exciting stuff. The call of God, eh!

Overall, the team’s achievements were:
-  Building three concrete water tanks in villages in the Blacksands area
-  Doing a two-week children’s programme with unschooled children
-  Doing a healthcare clinic in six villages with the two doctors and two nurses on the team
-  Cleaning massive piles of rubbish out of a village river
-  And running two community nights for the local people
