Tonga

Interesting Fact
Tonga consists of 170 islands, however only 48 of these are inhabited.

Outreach
Tongans are a warm and hospitable people, and you will enjoy your time here on this beautiful Pacific island. As well as enjoying the sunshine, the ocean, and the amazing scenery, you will also have the opportunity to see the parts of Tonga that the regular tourist may not… the lives and homes of people who have fallen through the gaps and struggle to make ends meet.

A main component of your outreach will be working with Tongan widows and single mothers who are without sufficient family support and have little means to help themselves. This will include helping to repair and possibly build houses for these women, as well as other practical assistance where needed. You will also spend time with the sick and the poor, getting to know their situations and lending a hand. You will meet many Tongan youth, whether in schools and youth centres, or in working with disadvantaged youth, so this will be an outreach full of discipleship, friendship, and practical help. The Tongan people will surely win a place in your heart.
